Journey so far

Journey so far

Journey so far

I'm Christy, a passionate graphic designer driven by a deep fascination with the power of visual communication. My path to design wasn't a straight line. Initially, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering at Mahatma Gandhi University (graduating in 2018). This provided me with a strong analytical foundation and problem-solving skills, which I've found surprisingly valuable in my design work. However, my creative spirit consistently drew me back to the world of visuals.

Recognizing this pull, I began a focused period of self-study in graphic design immediately after graduation. This involved immersing myself in design principles, software, and industry best practices. I quickly absorbed new concepts and began applying them in practical ways through freelance projects, building a portfolio and gaining invaluable hands-on experience. This rapid learning curve solidified my conviction that design was my true calling.

My freelance work from 2018 onwards allowed me to experiment with various design styles and client needs. I rapidly developed skills in branding, visual identity, and social media design, adapting my approach to each unique project. This period was crucial for developing my ability to quickly grasp new briefs, understand client objectives, and translate them into effective visual solutions.

This self-directed learning and freelance experience then led to opportunities at established companies. At Windfall Productions, I collaborated with high-profile clients within the Shalom World network (including Shalom World, Shalom Tidings, Shalom World Podcasts, and Shalom World News). This experience exposed me to the dynamics of a professional design studio and honed my collaborative skills. I learned to work within established brand guidelines, adapt to different communication styles, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.

My role as Lead Designer at Tummy & Me further accelerated my growth. Taking on leadership responsibilities allowed me to not only refine my design skills but also develop my project management and communication abilities. I quickly learned to manage a team, delegate effectively, and ensure consistent brand messaging across various marketing materials. This experience proved my ability to quickly adapt to new roles and responsibilities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Currently based in Tipperary, Ireland, I continue to refine my skills and seek new challenges…
